It's a BLACK TIE Affair for Anything But a Card Challenge #5 - USE BLACK

Can you believe it - November is here!!! I feel like it snuck up on me with the surprising cooler weather that came in after all the rain passed last week.

It's week number two of the "BLACK" challenge at "ANYTHING BUT A CARD"!!! ABAC is a bi-weekly challenge and today, the Design Team showcases NEW projects using "BLACK" for Challenge number FIVE. Head on over to ABAC and see all the fantastic projects shared by the fantastic design team AND submissions by all of you. The best part...there's still another week to play along and link up via inlinkz froggy.

Challenge 5 is to incorporate the color BLACK into your project. It doesn't have to be the only color, but it should compromise a good portion of it. It does not have to be spooky - but it certainly could be. This challenge theme is so much fun and can go any direction! I hope you are playing along!

We have two (2) weddings this month - one is black tie {REALLY} - so being in an elegant  wedding frame of mind, I have made a gorgeous handmade ornament for ABAC Challenge #5.

I had one beautiful black and white glittery flourish 12x12 paper by Robin's Nest that I have been creatively hoarding for a special project. And this ABAC BLACK Challenge was the perfect time to put it to good use. I am a lover of origami and kusudama and I make and sell paper ornaments and lanterns in my shop SalonDArte. This ornament is a kusudama folding technique using 6 folded shapes of paper that fit together like a puzzle. After assembling, I strung on some glass beads along with a tassel and a beautiful ornament is born!

For the tassel - I usually make my own and I did, but it was not quite elegant enough. So I shopped my stash of crafty goodness and I found this black and gold graduation tassel which was part of a package of EK Success graduation embellishments. Yes I said black and GOLD...that does not go with this. **A TIP** I used a black Bic Mark-it marker to color the gold cording around the tassel, let it dry, then used a silver Krylon paint pen to color the cording silver. Now it is a perfect compliment to my ornament.

What are you creating this weekend??? You still have a week to link up your use of BLACK creations. I can't wait to see all the creative ideas everyone is sharing! Drop by next Sunday, November 6th to be just in time for the next Anything But a Card Challenge... and remember...The only thing NOT allowed is a card! Sb : )
