Stirring Up Some #Cre8time Fun... making Altered Paint Sticks

What do creative friends do in their free time... daydream and think up fun swaps to have with each other. After the rousing success and enjoyment of the altered pinewood derby car challenge, my amazing creative friend Tina Walker decided it was time for another Cre8time challenge - this time a mail swap. Swap three for three. I created four so I could keep one for myself.

The OBJECT d'Arte would be Paint Sticks. You know we all have them, wood, utilitarian a reason to go to the hardware store LOL!

Washi... washi... washi - who else has hoards of this and can't get enough. On any given outing to a store with craft-like items, I seem to end up with more stashed in my purse. I have all of my tapes {that are not holiday themed} all organized by color in a metal tin with a clear window top {CLICK HERE to see more}. So how does one alter a recycled paint stir stick??! Any way possible! Well, my choice was to create a rainbow of washi and showcase a really great quote... plus use some measuring tape washi so that in a pinch, this inspiration stick can be used for measuring too.

I wrapped the washi tape one strip and and color at a time around the stick - creating a colorful rainbow. When completely covered I burnished it down really good with a bone folder and lined across the length with a the measuring tape overlapped with a sparkly rainbow stripe. I punched the quote into my K and Co. Label maker {always loads of squeaky fun} and stapled the ends with my Tiny Attacher. Before I put the mini staples in, I smashed my label tape with it and got some really cool negative staple marks. On the backside, I reinforced and really tacked down the washi tapes with some seriously sticky aluminum tape.

+ + + Now the SWAP Players + + +

A whole group of artsy craftsy pals have joined in the fun { Tina WalkerBrianna Marshall, DeeDee CatronMelissa JohnsonMichele KosciolekSara Vukson, and me}.
