Vintage Pretty in Pink..."Miss You"
Operation Write Home's
Memorial Day Bloghop

Welcome to my stop on Operation Write Home's Memorial Day Bloghop 2011 . This is my third year participating...my lil' sister and her hubby are in the Army National Guard. My sister is now married and has transferred from FL to the Hawaii National Guard { how romantic }. Her husband is currently deployed in Afghanistan and I am now making cards and sending care packages. Our family is so proud and grateful to them and for all of our men and women serving in the armed forces and I love doing my part by using my creativity supporting such an awesome cause...Operation Write Home!!!

Cross My Heart... we're sending lots of KISSES to our troops and loved ones serving overseas! This card is playing double duty using Sketch it Saturday sketch #108 over at Unscripted Sketches. I been having an awesome time creating for the Unscripted Sketches Design Team & I have been trying to use up things saved for this or that. This is another throw-away collage - made from leftover items & scraps destined for the recycle bin. The bits and pieces for this were leftovers from an ATC swap I did a while back. Please view the previous post for more info on this card.

**BLOG CANDY** I will be having a RAK giveaway of goodies from comments left between now and June 1st. I will include the vintage image used in this card. Good luck!!!

Keep on hopping! The next stop is
with Louise at
Trinity Paper Arts

Have a happy & safe Memorial Day Weekend! If you have ended up here in the middle of the hop, click Operation Write Home Memorial Day Bloghop to get back to the top of the hop!!!

Geared up for Unscripted Sketches!!!
Sketch 107 Reveal...

I have been all GEEKED and GEARED up for this week's Sketch it Saturday sketch #107 over at Unscripted Sketches. Can all my creations be my favorite??? I have been planning to use this guy from My Minds Eye "Lil' Robots" collection to make this card because this week had a piggyback challenge to use metals - Yippee! Gears and screws and washers, oh MY!

I have a serious collection of brads, grommets, screws and found metal objects from my daily travels. Can you pick out all the metal pieces I have in this???

Starting with the robot & border, these were die cuts from MME paper collection. The diamond plate background is a silver paper embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder, then I rubbed it with green inks to tint it & enhance the diamond plate.

Get a count on all the metal bits yet??? There are a lot! And a googlie eye and a little mini fuse I found in the Publix parking lot on Thursday { so I had to use it }. Found metal objects, the large ring around the googly eye, and the washer over a T!m Holtz gear. I used a metal button, a copper colored eyelet, a bronze brad and I repurposed a drycleaning tag with two staples in it. The flat and phillips head screws are actually brads...can't remember from who {maybe Karen Foster}...and did you see the red brad BLINKIE at the top of the robot? To top off this little guy, I have some Karen Foster smiley face brads that have little phrases with them and I used the "miss you" on the chest plate of the robot. This has been rubbed with green ink to make it stand out better.

This card will be going off to "Operation Write Home" after it's debut in the Memorial Day Bloghop next weekend. There's still time to sign up if you want to participate in the fun { Click here for info }. This will be my third year participating...my lil' sister and her hubby are in the Army National Guard.

Unscripted Sketches #106 - REVEALED!!!

This is one of my favorite creations to date for Sketch it Saturday's sketch #106 over at Unscripted Sketches. I have been excited to use this Stampendous "Sushi Bowl Party" stamp set I got on clearance, and have left it out on the dining room table to remind me. This week's sketch was the perfect use. I combined this with flourishes from a tropical stamp set and sentiment from a dollar stamp set from one of the craft stores.

I stamped the fish bowl on patterned water paper and added more depth with markers blended with water brush pens. I also stamped images on recycled film {acetate} with Staz-on and colored the flourish with marker. I layered this on top of the blue fishbowl for depth. Between the layers is a fish and heart on hook from the same "Sushi Bowl Party" set. I added black embroidery floss coming out of the bowl to the top of the card.

The pineapple patterned paper is Basic Grey and is so fun and tropical. The stamped flourishes are accented with pink marker.

Unscripted Sketches - Sketch it Saturday # 105

This is my creation for Sketch it Saturday's sketch #105 over at Unscripted Sketches. This all began with the joined ladies border which I scored for ten cents over at my local SB store's yard sale last weekend. This was my inspiration - pink foil ladies on a mint green background. YUMMY!

I have many scraps for cards and this went perfectly on a piece of my minds eyes chocolate and green stripe. I also edged the border with pink metallic Mizuhiki strands to finish off the chipboard edges. The shoes & phrase are hero art stamps that I stamped, then scanned into the computer and resized, then printed on pink cardstock. I needed the phrase to fit on a chipboard ribbon buckle, so I sized the shoes proportionally. The shoes are accented with some flower gems for some extra "Bling".

Wishing everyone a great Mother's Day! I''ll give you a hint for next week...I'm using a flourish...
