Welcome to the Altered Pages Fabulous Fall / Spooky Halloween Blog Hop! Today the Altered Pages Design Team is bringing you a cornucopia full of ALTERED inspiration! If you arrived here in the middle, CLICK HERE to get back to the beginning at the Altered Pages Artsociates Blog.
The great thing about altered arts is that everything and anything can be used for creating: papers, ribbons, fibers, beads, buttons... you name it. This project began with a pretty sheet of orange and black patterned paper, that I created a simple paper hat form from. Around the cone, I added some loopy embroidered satin ribbon layered with a black glittery satin trim. Pretty as it may be - it's too plain jane... this hat needs some "ALTERATION"...
Instead of a traditional belted witch hat, I altered this into an extraordinary Victorian Halloween party hat. I really love the "Fascinator" style headpieces - so I created my own to adorn my witch hat fashioned out of some shimmery mesh ribbon wrapped and layered like a bow topped with contrasting black feathers. Using some wire and crystal beads, I wired up a DAZZLING gem spider. If you like headpieces - you should visit the Altered Pages "Alter Your Creativity" Headdress Challenge {CLICK HERE}. A new Challenge begins on Monday, October 8th...be ready to play along with us!
Nestled amongst the feathers is a beaded gem spider!

ReplyDeleteTrish! LOL! My beading and wiring looks pretty nice as a spooky spider. It's pretty easy. It's just different shape faceted beads on a wire bent with an eye loop at the end. The legs are hot glued in-between two large faux gems placed back to back. The head two round gems glued back to back. Hope that helps.
DeleteSusan, your work always amazes and inspires me. I absolutely love this project. I'm wanting to make one now, too. :) Thanks for participating in the hop.
