Making ATC's for Anything But A Card Challenges No. 18... What a Treat!

Hello! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I'm so excited to for this new Anything But a Card Challenge... Number 18 is all about "A.T.C.'s" { artist trading cards }. This format is one that I have been creating and trading for many years and I love making these mini masterpieces.

There's two weeks to play along and link up via inlinkz froggy. Anything But a Card Challenges is a bi-weekly challenge and today, begins week 2 of our challenge. Our wonderful Design Team showcases NEW "A.T.C" projects today. Please click here to head on over to ABAC and see all the fantastic projects shared by the design team AND submissions by all of you. I will have a project featured next Sunday for week two of the challenge. THIS CHALLENGE IS ONLY A.T.C.'s.

Anything But a Card Challenge 18 is all about "A.T.C.'s" - {ARTIST TRADING CARDS}: This small fun format is quite addictive – can be of any theme and using any media. You can even have windows, doors and pull-outs if you are really inventive. We invite you to play along and HAVE FUN creating A.T.C.'s!!!

This style originated with a project initiated in 1997 by Zurich artist M.Vänçi Stirnemann. CLICK HERE to view gallery of participating artists. What a GRAND idea this artist came up with and now is a global creative trend.

(1) their size is 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" { 64 mm x 89 mm } - could be horizontal or vertical.
(2) A.T.C.'s are meant to be traded - never sold.
(3) they are originals, small editions and, most importantly, self-produced. Anybody can produce them.

I love making ATC's and it's the perfect format to try out new things and techniques I want to try. This ATC has a feature star using a weathered metal technique.

This card is so reminiscent of Venice and architecture and used a magazine page painted with a gesso wash then stamped over. This theme is wide open and you can be as imaginative and inventive as you like!

And now I'm off to PLAY...

I hope you are inspired to play along and I can't see what you create! I created a masterboard made from paper scraps on my table yesterday during my Saturday Crafts Fair demo that will become a set of ten brand new ATC's. I can't wait to share them next weekend for week two of this challenge. I'm so excited with how they will evolve!!! :) Sb

Life is Precious... Celebrating Mother Earth for LeslieRahye's Earth Day Bloghop

Welcome to my stop on LeslieRahye's Second Annual EARTH DAY Bloghop. I LIVE to RECYCLE. I am an avid greencrafter and am always repurposing interesting things in my projects. This project is an altered Altoid tin. Check back later today for another fantastic greencrafted storage project.

Perfect for today's celebration and bringing spring and rebirth back to this empty tin box - using one of my favorite rubber stamps a flower headed ostrich!

This is the inside of the lid with a patterned paper scrap background overstamped with floral silhouettes and a dragonfly. The border is adorned with a fiber wrapped black shimmery chenille stem {one of my favorite ways to use fibers}.

For the inside of the tin, I have created this stamped collage using my favorite stamp and a quote that is so profound...life is precious. The flower is popped up on 3D dots and hand colored using twinkling H2o's and the center accented with Stickles to add some sparkle.

For the stamp afficianados - this is the side of the Nick Bantock stamp used. I have one other that is a giraffe body with a bird of paradise type flower for the head. These were two of my first "ARTSY" stamps that began my whole rubber obsession.

Please scroll down to click on the squares below to continue to all the fantastic artists on the hop...and remember, please Think GREEN! Sb

I'm all Awash in Inky Fun for Anything But a Card Challenge Number 17

Hello! I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. I missed posting last weekend for the debut of the new Anything But a Card Challenge... Number 17 "APRIL SHOWERS". So I'm sharing two projects with you today... are you ready for some Cre8time???

There's two weeks to play along and link up via inlinkz froggy. Anything But a Card Challenges is a bi-weekly challenge and today, begins week 2 of our challenge. Our wonderful Design Team showcases NEW projects using our "APRIL SHOWERS" theme. Please click here to head on over to ABAC and see all the fantastic projects shared by the design team AND submissions by all of you. I will have a project featured next Sunday for week two of the challenge.

REMEMBER this challenge blog is ANYTHING and EVERYTHING... except for Cards. ATC's aren't greeting cards...so please link up your ATC's!!!

Anything But a Card Challenge 17 "APRIL SHOWERS" - create anything with a WATER theme including mermaids, beaches, seas, the color of seas/oceans, thunderstorms, rainbows, streans, rivers, ponds, snow, spring showers, umbrella, fountains, waterfalls. I'm sure you are awash in creative ideas!!!
We have some exciting new designers joining the ABAC Design Team and I have taken over the Helm to keep Anything But A Card Challenges on Course to lend founder Carla a hand. Along with a couple other new and exciting things I'm doing, I'm juggling things around so I'm also sharing my project that was featured for week one...

I love doing throw away collages - collecting up leftover stuff from other projects and create something new. The base of this is a 6" square star book made of chipboard scraps and white paper. It was just a plain book as it was a trial run project and now I have a pretty journal that is ready for pretty patterned papers, sketching, journaling and embellishing.

The burlap and sparkly floral mesh are from the floral dept. at the craft store. I had received a small bits of each in a crafty supply swap - but I needed MORE. The shells and quote are one large stamp by Crafty Individuals {I just love the vintage by the sea feel}. I gave the chipboard base of the cover a whitewash with some acrylic paint in a dauber bottle. I finished this off with some real freshwater pearl beads.

This collage using teals, blues and green with natural embellishments - burlap, glass and sea shells. I used glitter to accent the sand in my vintage beach photo. I created a weathered wood feeling by tearing and distressing the edges of the painted map paper in the background.

And now I'm off for a nap...

This hand-colored in the flamingo using my Ranger Distress Markers, Makes me laugh out loud! Viva Las VegaStamps! is famous for stamps of any theme and variety you could ever dream of... and I visited the store a couple weeks ago {I know... I have a lot of blogging to catch up on}. The May Arts ribbons at the bottom I stamped and inked to blend in with the watery background. I am totally in LOVE with the paper raffia tying off the top of this tag. I have a whole spool which I received as a prize from the winning a May Arts Craft Challenge back in December. All STAMPS Viva Las VegaStamps! - Flamingo Sleeping #5168, "I Have So Much to Do..." #17528, Paris Address #17539, and Measuring Tape Numbers from plate 1430.

I hope you are inspired to play along and I can't see what you create! I've been in a frenzy creating Earth Day projects for a special Earth Day bloghop that I'm participating in tomorrow - be sure to drop by - you will be inspired!!!   :) Sb

Inspiration from an Old Stack of Photos for Anything But a Card Challenges #16 - Week 2

Happy Sunday - I hope you are having a great weekend! Today is week two of the current Anything But a Card Challenge... Challenge number 16 – "Inspired By."

REMEMBER this challenge blog is ANYTHING and EVERYTHING... except for Cards. ATC's aren't greeting cards...so please link up your ATC's!!!

You still have one more week to play along and link up via inlinkz froggy. Anything But a Card Challenges Challenge 16 is "Inspired By." Please click here to head on over to ABAC and see more fantastic projects shared by our amazing design team AND submissions by all of you. I have an altered/stamped project to share with you today.

My project I'm sharing today is an ATC I created that was inspired by my Father and hand tinted photography. "Smokin' Gal" is created with a stamped image was a lady leaning on a post smoking. I have some old photos from my father that he took on a trip to Europe when he was 15. He took many amazing black and white photos and I immediately thought of this photo to go along with the stamped image. My father was traveling with friends of his parents with a bus tour around Europe in the early 1950s. This particular stop was in Koblenz, Germany and he made a point at telling me why he took this photo - being one of three men on the tour, at every stop, the ladies lined up waiting to use the ladies room. He was probably sick and tired of this at the time, since they traveled to Paris, Italy and Switzerland, plus many other destinations, too. I know that even over 50 years later, we GIRLS are still standing in line waiting for the Loo - and there are never, ever enough. Enjoy! Sb

What are You Inspired By???
