Hello! Happy Sunday everyone! I'm so excited to for this new Anything But a Card Challenge... Challenge 23 is "STEAMPUNK". I love all things Steampunk and I'm totally addicted to this genre... click here to see my Patriotic Steampunk Button Fairy.
Ever since I learned to make button fairies back at my monthly ART Club meeting back in March... I am totally addicted. Back for ABAC Challenge 15, I shared an "Alice in Wonderland" themed Fairy of the perpetually late White Rabbit {CLICK HERE to view}. Since then I have made several more, this one in the STEAMPUNK genre. Not only did I make a button fairy... but have proved here that PIGS CAN FLY!!!
There's two weeks to play along and link up via inlinkz froggy. Anything But a Card Challenges is a bi-weekly challenge and today, begins a new challenge. Our wonderful Design Team showcases their Challenge 23 "STEAMPUNK" inspired projects today. Please click here to head on over to ABAC and see the wonderful projects shared by the design team AND submissions by all of you. I will have another project featured next Sunday for week two of the challenge.
REMEMBER this challenge blog is ANYTHING and EVERYTHING... except for Cards. ATC's aren't greeting cards...so please link up your ATC's!!!

Just remember create anything except a card... this is going to be FUN!!!
Want to learn how to make your own button fairy???
Read on and I'll share a little more on how fun and easy - AND - TOTALLY ADDICTIVE these are to make. Once you start... you just can't stop!
I have to say that I had so much fun making this and I was inspired by this ONE stamp - Winged Pig Large #9476 from Viva Las VegaStamps! Isn't he so adorable? I can use him for so many projects... and I get a pair of wings, too.
**TIP FOR THE DAY** Stamp an image on different types of paper and fussy cut them back together. For this Steampunk Pig Flyer - I stamped his wings onto scraps of distressed aluminum tape paper and the pig onto cardstock with oversprayed color from another project. I stamped the image three times so I could fussy cut and pop-up the snout and right ear when pieced back together.

You don't need a whole lot of supplies - just some beads, buttons and other findings, and some wire or ribbon to link them together. I hand colored my pig pieces using my Ranger Distress Markers with a waterbrush and cut out.
Starting from the bottom I fed a silver bead with wire folded in half and began to string the beads an buttons from smallest to largest; twisting the wire and feeding through button holes and shanks. Feel free to mix and match goodies from your stash... that's the fun part!
I added a glass bead between each button to add a little sparkle. These are so much fun embellishing!
I added a shield made of a resin cast shell and an assortment of layered gears and metal junk. The finishing touch is a zig-zag clip affixed to a piece of twisted wire to be his beanie propeller - now he's officially a "STEAMPUNK FLYING PIG!!!"
Supplies used: STAMPS - Winged Pig Large #9476. Other supplies: Assorted buttons, beads and gears from my crafty stash; a resin piece of shell created with Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin; Alumilite Metallic Powders; Staz-On Black ink; Miracle Tape; 3-D foam mounting tape; Ranger Distress Markers; and water brush.
