Snowflakes Fly in on the Cool Breezes for Unscripted Sketches #174

What a whirlwind of a week it has been...and this card has blown in on the cool fall breezes. I used Unscripted Sketches Sketch #174 and also the "Use Your Favorite Things" challenge from Shopping Our Stash Challenge #66

Being from Chicago...snowflakes are one of my favorite things! And this week's sketch was perfect to get out ALL of my snowflake punches and a Cuttlebug mini snowflake die, too. I love my punches, too - they are so versatile and can be used in so many ways.

What do you get when you have some paper scraps, a leftover piece of wired ribbon, A bunch of snowflake punches and some Miracle Tape??? You get this festive "Merry Christmas" card! The background paper is a scrap of paper received in a scrap swap I participate in with "Crafty and Green". I think it is MME, but I can't remember {if anyone knows - help a crafter out please}.

**A TIP** How to make an odd sized scrap of paper work with a sketch??? Cut it apart - no one will ever know.

This scrap was large enough to cover an A2 card, but most of the sentiments would have been covered up by the border in the center. So I cut the paper apart to make 2 1/8" x 4" sections for the top and bottom of my card, each having a section of the sentiment. I then wrapped a strip of chipboard in Miracle tape and adhered the wired ribbon and centered in the card. I finished off with my beautiful layered punched snowflakes punched out of a glittery snowflake MME paper complete with blingy brads. Just like on a blustery winter day...little snow birds chirping and mine bring a holiday message, too!

What is Sketch it Saturdays at Unscripted Sketches? Every Saturday morning a new sketch is posted for the week. Flip the sketch, rotate it… create a card, a scrapbook page, a wall hanging, digital, paper, fabric, paint, anything your imagination comes up with! There is no right or wrong way, as long as you are using the Unscripted sketch as the inspiration for your creation! And everyone is invited to join in the fun...and post your creation on their page for all the world to see!

  1. Love the card, Susan, and thanks for the tip about cutting the scrap paper in half. It is one of those things we may already know, but have forgotten. I've never met a tip I didn't like. :) TFS.
