#Cre8time Celebrating with Deflecto Craft and Designer Crafts Connection

Hello everyone! Summer is in full swing and anything could be a reason to celebrate! Do you have a party to plan? Today you are in for a treat as the Designer Crafts Connection takes on a new challenge featuring fabulous party decor items from Deflecto Craft. Let's get this celebration started...

For this challenge, Deflecto Craft provided three items for us to work with: the fabulous dual use Three Tier Dessert Stand; a 5" x 7" Beveled Edge Frame; and the VersaGrip™ Wide Clip Sign Holders. With these products you can set up your party table at a moments notice and easily customize them to coordinate with any theme or event.

My inspiration is summertime in Florida. One minute you can be planning a day at the beach and the next minute... the tropical downpours move in and you are stuck indoors for the afternoon {or days depending on Mother Nature}. So I'm having a summer beach bash movie party with all the snacks and treats. The first thing I did after a run to the store was embellish the 5" x 7" Beveled Edge Frame. This sleek beveled frame has metal knobs that unscrew easily for quick and easy framing.

I took one of my decorative napkins, opened it up fully and placed inside the frame, then trimmed edges flush with frame edges. I layered inside a fun phrase that I printed off the computer in coordinating colors. Using one of the bamboo skewers, I poked through the corner holes to insert and secure the screwposts. Easy-peasy!

Now for the fun!!! With a few pantry items, jumbo marshmallows and Wilton candy melts and accents, I have everything needed to make some tasty treats on bamboo skewers.

In my inspiration for these treats on a stick from Pinterest, the marshmallows were colored blue. The coloring step can be skipped and depending on season you may find blue ones at the store {mine had a nice assortment including Ghostbusters shapes}. I couldn't resist the jumbo sized which are about the size of 4 or six regular large marshmallows, making for super-sized tasty fun!

I skewered several marshmallows and dipped them in a pool of blue with a smidge of green food coloring. You may want to do these ahead of time as you have to dip them several times to get the colored desired. You can't leave them wet too long because they start to dissolve {I did 3-4 dips on each with 5-10 minutes between swims}. After setting out to dry for a while the marshmallows dried out. I melted some white chocolate candy melts then dipped each blue mallow into the chocolate and dunked them in toasted coconut.

The finishing touch is to add the Wilton "Finding Dory" candy fish and goldfish crackers with a dab of chocolate on the back to act as glue. I set aside to let chocolate harden before adding bamboo skewers. These are so cute!! 

Now with my pops ready... my table is ready to be set. I gathered some beachy items from around the house along with some fun beach toys that I picked up for my nephews. I covered the three tiers of the Dessert Stand in a layer of plastic wrap for easy clean up and used a craft knife to cut slits through plastic wrap at points for assembling the layers. I layered fun snack items and candy on the tiers, then added the marshmallow pops in the holes perfectly spaced for staggering tasty treats. The VersaGrip™ Wide Clip Sign Holders come in handy for standing up or attaching signs or items to plates or vessels. I'm using them to hold up the cute sea life beach toys. This summer movie beach bash is ready...

Do you repurpose empty tape spools to use for crafty projects? Well I do and they are so versatile. My Cre8time led me to an ingenious idea for the perfect gift for Dad... with a steampunk twist. This was quick and easy to make using aluminum tape, a few crafty stash items and some magnetic craft sheets. 

Dad will love it... no more tiny metal brads or nails all over the place - someplace to keep them within reach.

I cut a section out of the tape spool and rounded the edges, then covered the entire thing with sections of aluminum tape - a good manly base. I burnished everything down real good with a bone folder then set off adding hardware. I cut a section of magnetic sheet to fit and ran through a Cuttlebug diamondplate embossing folder {yes - it works}. I wrapped around metal tape bangle and tacked down with some double-sided tape. 

To reinforce and add more detail, I punched some holes with my Crop-a-Dile, set eyelets and affixed some gears and swirly paperclips with screw brads. I covered up the exposed brad wings on the inside with more aluminum tape to secure and to finish it off.

#Cre8time Organization for the Office... with Designer Crafts Connection and Deflecto Craft

 

Hello everyone! Today is another Designer Crafts Connection Bloghop challenge... this time featuring office supplies from Deflecto Craft. Who doesn't love office supplies - especially when we put our own Cre8time twist on them. As a graphic artist working in the printing industry, these items have transformed my disorganized mess on my desk.

For this challenge, Deflecto Craft provided three items for us to work with: Stackable Cube 4 Drawer Organizer; the 5" x 7" Black Bordered Craft Frame; and the Interior Image® 8 1/2" x 2" Sign Holder Nameplate. Each of these products on their own are sleek and functional, but combined, your desk and work area can be totally transformed.

The first thing I set off to embellish was the Interior Image® 8 1/2" x 2" Sign Holder Nameplate. I used some silver letter stickers from my stash to spell out "dream BIG" along the black swoosh bar. I enlarged my logo and text from my business cards to fit the plexiglas area. This can be changed out easily at any time by sliding out the protective anti-glare plexiglas and replace with a new insert.

Now I move on to putting a little bling onto the 5" x 7" Black Bordered Craft Frame. These frames are great as they are for a sleek, modern look... but are a perfect blank canvas for a myriad of projects or handmade gifts.

I had a lanyard from a convention with black square gems that was coming apart, so I gently peeled the gems off of the felt backing and re-adhered as an accent to the black edge of the acrylic frame. I had one small section of gems remaining and I saved this to embellish the storage drawer cube. I typeset a favorite quote by Arisotle and printed out. I trimmed page to fit frame and I have an instant piece of "Quotable Art" that looks like something storebought.

I don't know about you, but my desk seems to end up with a bunch of cups holding a hodge podge of pencils, pens, markers and whatnot... causing more clutter than actual organization. Insert the Deflecto Craft Stackable Cube 4 Drawer Organizer and all this clutter is organized in a jiffy. I really love the clear cubes as they blend in to the background and let the contents be seen and easily accessed. I need to have everything within reach and these drawers are so handy.

I divided up my cups of pens and supplies into the 4 drawers... and I have room for plenty more! I wrapped a purple decorative tape around the edge of the storage cube and topped it off with some of the matching black bling leftover from the frame. This ties all three items together with pops of black.

Lunch Notes with #Cre8time LOVE...

Hello everyone. I'm back to share a little project using the Wet-Erase Chalkboard Signs that are handy, yet so much fun!

The Deflecto Wet-Erase Sign is perfect for adding a sign in a snap! These cute Black signs mounted to a Mahogany easel come in a three pack measuring 5 7/8" x 9 1/2" x 5 1/4".

In a previous post I created this fun Mexican themed sign using the assorted color pack of Deflecto Wet-Erase Markers for a fun taco night we had around the Thanksgiving holiday. I had fun decorating this and I love the border I created. I would like to use this on a daily basis as a menu note board for my husband for the meals I prepare and leave for him. I have to cook on a daily basis now for health reasons and he is really reaping the benefits and bragging about his "gourmet cook" at home - LOL!

I'm going to keep the border here, so using a small paintbrush and water, I apply water and gently rub to remove the chalk ink in the center of this board.

 I blot away the excess water and repeat until most ink is cleared.

Using a paper towel, I mop up the remaining and gently dry the center, careful to not wipe away my border. This is really pretty simple and didn't take more than a few minutes.

The Deflecto Wet-Erase Markers clean up quick and easy with a wet paper towel and water, then followed with a dry cloth - and they leave no ghosting. The ink is opaque and bright and does not require multiple coats - that's a timesaver. **A Little TIP** These markers write on plexi, glass and anything with a durable non-porous surface so you can decorate pretty much anything! I love using these on the Deflecto Craft Plexi frames.

The center of my blackboard is clear for re-decorating with my border in tack. There was a little smudge here and there which was easily touched up. All I have to do is create a new message for today!

I placed the sign right where with the water and drinks - a place that is sure to be seen. My husband really gets a kick out of my new daily routine of home cooking... and I have a little creative fun, too!

#Cre8time Organization that's to DIE for...

Hello Everyone! It's a new week and I'm focusing on getting my crafty stash organized... today I'm focusing on my fun collection of thin metal dies. I am a die-hard club member of The Stamps of Life and I get a fun new collection of stamps with dies each month. Until now I have them all in a box in the mail packaging they come in - but I can't see them and have no clue what is in each. I have a solution combining two products from Deflecto Craft and a few staples from my crafty stash.

I'm using two Deflecto Craft products to create this FUNctional tabletop die storage... and it's a quick and easy transformation.

The sleek and modern Deflecto Document Browser® has six clear dividers on a black base which move effortlessly to browse files. I knew straightaway that this would be a great way to store my ever-growing collection of thin metal dies. I need them to be out where I can see them and organized in a fun way. This document browser system is perfect for this... the best part is that I can use both sides of each divider as my collection grows.

The Deflecto Craft Magnetic Sheets come in a package of three 8" x 15" sheets, with a white backing. These white magnetic sheets can be painted or papered, embellished or customized to any project. Thin enough to cuts easily with scissors, craft knives and die cuts... even emboss. I will be using the magnetic side {black side} up for sticking items to the storage system.

First I use a sheet of deli paper to trace a cutting pattern to fit each panel. I measure and cut six sections to size and trace pattern with pencil on the white side of magnet sheets. Now for a little fun! I could have skipped this step - but I wanted add a little texture and flair to my storage... and I think this will aid in pulling off the dies. So I picked an embossing folder with a gradiant dot pattern and embossed each magnetic section with my Cuttlebug. Honestly, I grabbed the first folder that was within reach {I have about 200} and didn't want to fuss with trying to choose.

I had to run each sheet through twice to complete pattern all the way across. I repeated for all five sheets.

I made sure that embossing would be raised on the black magnetic side. Now it's just so fun, right??!

Now for the most technical part of the transformation - cutting and gluing. I went to my stash and grabbed some double sided adhesive sheets for this job. Makes things quick and easy. I cut to size of rectangles and adhered to white side of each panel. The adhesive sheets are translucent enough to see my pattern line. I cut each to shape and did a test fit to make any trim adjustments if needed. I peeled off the backing and mounted to the Document Browser®. Voila!!

I have all six panels nearly filled and room to grow on the backside!

#Cre8time Dormroom Doodling... Heading Off to College with Deflecto Craft

Hello Everyone! Today I'm bringing you some "Back to School" inspiration using some supplies with Deflecto Craft. My project is geared for the college student who's moving into the dorms and setting up for classes and studying in style!

My project is super fun and easy... and perfect for the college student - combining sweet treats and brand new school supplies in a caddy that is hand-doodled with Deflecto Dry Erase Chalk Markers. These pens can turn virtually any surface into a place to leave a Cre8time impression! A college student could go wild in the blank canvas called a DORM ROOM.

I customized the outside and around the framed inside of the pencil cup creating a whimsical circular pattern. Who doesn't love to doodle? The chalk ink can be wiped away with a damp cloth and it's ready for new design.

In lieu of photos, I added some fluorescent pink cardstock to the photo frame and wrote a fun message using the blue wet erase chalk marker onto the protective plexi window.

Daring to try New Colors and Techniques for Anything But a Card Challenge No. 49 "ANYTHING GOES"

Greetings Friends! I hope you are having a fabulous 4th of July weekend. Today begins a brand new challenge at Anything But a Card Challenges. 

The new Challenge... is OPEN! With summertime in full swing... we want to see what you're creating! Anything But a Card Challenges No. 49 is ANYTHING GOES. Share you're creations, whatever it may be... scrapbooking, collage, ATCs, tags, art journal pages, altered shrines... whatever tickles your muse and her fancy!

Challenges are a fun way to push yourself to try new things and new styles – and to be perfectly honest – this was way out of my creative box. I was a bit scared as to how I would tackle this challenge board... it's totally out of my box and I had butterflies in my stomach until my creation was complete! But I'm so glad I played along.

I started with a watercolor paper that I monoprinted with a blend of blue and green metallic Ranger Adirondack acrylics. Then I scribbled and smooshed on some blues and green Faber-Castell Gelatos to my liking. Using gel medium I fused a ghost monoprint on deli paper, which glues the layers together while giving translucency to colors below.

I wanted to have a scribbly heart, so I made a dribbly heart mask {click here to see how to} and placed onto my background then sprayed with black Ditto glimmer spray.

Look at all the glorious blue and green exposed! I brushed some water at the top where the spray was still a bit wet and let the black color drip down. This was fun and a bit scary... I'm a total newbie to the dripping technique.

I gave a blast with the heat gun to dry everything and added a few strokes of Gelatos to the heart. To finish this mini masterpiece, I overstamp a bubble wrap texture and spell out "dare to dream" with Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink {love this new white ink} and heat set. I stamped, embossed and fussy cut butterfly wings on matching painted paper. I gently slide the my collage into a Deflecto Acrylic Craft Frame and tucked the wings off each edge... and I have a new inspirational whimsy.
