Good Morning! Today is Sketch-It Saturday and a special celebration with today's Unscripted Sketches #252. Today is Unscripted Sketches 5th Blogiversary - a momentous occasion. I happened upon Unscripted Sketches on twitter way back 5 years ago and have been a follower since WEEK Number ONE! I can't believe it... and now I'm part of this fabulous team here to inspire you each week. Today marks my 3rd anniversary as being part of Unscripted Design Team and I've come so far since my first post for sketch #101. For over a year now, I'm part of the team that's responsible for keeping this inspiration challenge blog going week to week. I invite you to come and join the weekly challenge.

Now for my project I'm sharing for the new Sketch #252. I have created a new page in my art quote journal and I took the liberty of using the sketch on the right hand side of my page, but also expanding it to a horizontal with room to add pix or momentos like a two-page spread. It's been a while since I've reached into by bag o' scraps and this page is using papers found there. With it being Springtime, my paper selections coordinate beautifully with my Martha Stewart floral border and anywhere flower punches.

Now to modify this busy patterned paper. I'm not sure of the make {it may be Quick Quotes} but I have several scraps of this paper that has loads of quotes all over it. It's way too busy for my liking so I'm using my new besties in my daily travel tote... gelatos to quickly modify and highlight my quote. I'm so grateful to Rita Barakat for introducing these to me when we met at CHA in January.

I don't know why I held out for so long trying gelatos. In minutes, I toned down and turned this bright and busy paper into something more artistically me - giving a proper home to one of my favorite quotes... and a bonus - the pastel painted texture! I really have to say I am totally addicted to my Faber Castell Gelatos and I'm enjoying experimenting with them.

I layered this sheet on a yellow orange cardstock matte and repeated smudging of gelatos around the edges and the torn edge on the bottom. In the area where the negative punch shape is, I colored lighter shades of yellow to add a little dimension.

The final touch is layering some ribbon scraps {you know those pieces you save that are less than 12" but still long enough for something} and some various sticky back gems to balance the gem brad in my layered punch and painted Prima flower. I look forward to adding bits to this open space as I'm spring cleaning and getting my studio in order.

Spending My #Cre8time Making ATCs for the VLVS! March Challenge

Hello everyone! I've been taking it easy these days {except for the day J.O.B.} and I'm really enjoying taking workshops, going on crafty excursions and creating at my leisure for FUN. Today, rather yesterday - I started this ATC, but got craftily sidetracked doing something else before work {bling can do that sometimes LOL} - so I had to finish this today.

I used the March Inspiration board from Viva Las VegaStamps! along with some VLVS! stamps from my hoards of rubber stamps. I created a background by coloring with a couple of yellows and green Gelatos directly onto the harlequin diamond background #18920, spritzed with water and stamped onto blank white cardstock.

I stamped the bottle with top #10276 onto the side of the same paper using Jet Black Staz-On ink and hand-colored with markers, then fussy cut and tied a piece of green raffia around neck. The "Good Luck" #8142 is stamped onto a scrap of emerald green cardstock and mounted on a scrap of a recycled iced tea bottle label; that is repeated as a border trim behind the bottle. The four leaf clover is created with four hearts punched from a papershapers punch, rubbed with peeled paint distress stain and rubbed with antique olive dewdrop ink. The center of the shamrock is from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Custom Fasteners Brads {a handy set that comes with two sizes of brads, stickers and the clear faux-resin toppers}. I added a sliver of the gold label for the stem accented with black marker and drew the rest of the stem into the bottle. Finished off with a rubbing of antique gold around the edges and this ATC is ready to display!

You Are My HAPPY... Art Journaling with Unscripted Sketches #219

It's mid week... {again} and I wanted to share my latest project using this week's Unscripted Sketches - sketch #219. This sketch was a bit of a challenge for a card and I wanted to use this "You Are My Happy" die cut embellishments from DCVW. I received this in a goody box from a crafty friend and decided it WOULD be in this week's project. So I made an art journal page instead. I found a scrap of patterned paper with the same coloring and punched the snowflakey circles with a Martha Stewart border punch and layered to mimick the sketch.

My husband and I went on a weekend getaway to the races in Daytona last weekend and this page is commemorating our time together. We both have very busy schedules and when time allows us to get in some quality time... we take full advantage of every minute.

The base was leftover red spray mist I picked up off my craft sheet; overstamped with dictionary page and chicken wire stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps!. I layered my die cut and punched pieces, ran all through my Xyron 510 sticker machine, and adhered - then set off for to doing some leisurely hand doodling... PURE FUN! I finished it off with a small photo from our weekend away {I get tons of arguments for taking pix TOO much - but this was a winner} doodled up to match and a "LOVE" button that just happened to be in my marker bag {adhered with my Xyron "X" sticker maker}. Perfecto!
