Ready for a Weekend Getaway... DIY Bloghop with Expo International Trims

 

Hello Friends! Are you ready for a weekend getaway?! I know I am! Today I am proud and grateful to be participating in a special DIY Spring Bloghop with Expo International Trims. I have a couple makes using Expo International trims: a pencil case turned Chic clutch and a wintery felt phone holder.

With some scissors, double-sided adhesive and Fabri-Tac ~
making a seasonal quick change is quick and EASY.

Expo International sent me this selection of items to create with. Keep an eye out here on Cinco de Mayo as to what becomes of the festive fringe and red trims. TRIMS USED in this project: Shell Beaded Denim Trim - Black Multi; AnnaLie Jute Trim {natural burlap background with cotton lace overlay}; Evelyn Black Lace; and striking Flower Brooch.



I shopped my closet and gathered some canvas, white, black and khaki - my travel go-tos and grabbed some items that need some travel ready flair.

 

First up - my not so girly yet functional fishing hat. I removed the leather straps and measured a section of the lacy jute trim and lined with double-sided adhesive. Remove the backing, wrap around and VOILA ~ instant transformation!



My canvas tote has a stain that won't wash out. What's a girl to do?! Camouflage it by adding some Expo International Trims of course!



Adding lace trim is quick and easy with Fabric-Tac.


 
I love to double layer contrasting trims... 
and it makes the trim look like it's all-in-one.

How did I get these great boho roses?!

 
 
I made them out of Expo International Trims!



I had a small section leftover of the lacey jute trim. It's not going to waste. I gently peeled back the lace to expose the threads and gently cut apart.



Now I have two separate pieces! I wrapped these wonkily into a rose shape, added a pearl to the center, and secured with Fabri-Tac.



I cut the burlap into strips, added a strip of double-sided adhesive tape, then backed onto this beautiful distressed denim trim with shells and wound it up into another boho rose.



Again - secured with strategically placed dollops of Fabri-Tac.



I added a broken clip-on earring to the center of this one.
A little more Fabri-Tac adheres them to the jute trim band.



An easy-peasy transformation from stuff I had around the house. AND I can easily remove and re-attach my leather strap for the pop-up fishing excursion.

But there's one more....

This natural woven purse is beautiful as it is... but it needs a little something.

After the addition of Expo International Black Lace trim and this gorgeous Adornments Clip-on Brooch!!!

#Cre8time Organization for the Office... with Designer Crafts Connection and Deflecto Craft

 

Hello everyone! Today is another Designer Crafts Connection Bloghop challenge... this time featuring office supplies from Deflecto Craft. Who doesn't love office supplies - especially when we put our own Cre8time twist on them. As a graphic artist working in the printing industry, these items have transformed my disorganized mess on my desk.

For this challenge, Deflecto Craft provided three items for us to work with: Stackable Cube 4 Drawer Organizer; the 5" x 7" Black Bordered Craft Frame; and the Interior Image® 8 1/2" x 2" Sign Holder Nameplate. Each of these products on their own are sleek and functional, but combined, your desk and work area can be totally transformed.

The first thing I set off to embellish was the Interior Image® 8 1/2" x 2" Sign Holder Nameplate. I used some silver letter stickers from my stash to spell out "dream BIG" along the black swoosh bar. I enlarged my logo and text from my business cards to fit the plexiglas area. This can be changed out easily at any time by sliding out the protective anti-glare plexiglas and replace with a new insert.

Now I move on to putting a little bling onto the 5" x 7" Black Bordered Craft Frame. These frames are great as they are for a sleek, modern look... but are a perfect blank canvas for a myriad of projects or handmade gifts.

I had a lanyard from a convention with black square gems that was coming apart, so I gently peeled the gems off of the felt backing and re-adhered as an accent to the black edge of the acrylic frame. I had one small section of gems remaining and I saved this to embellish the storage drawer cube. I typeset a favorite quote by Arisotle and printed out. I trimmed page to fit frame and I have an instant piece of "Quotable Art" that looks like something storebought.

I don't know about you, but my desk seems to end up with a bunch of cups holding a hodge podge of pencils, pens, markers and whatnot... causing more clutter than actual organization. Insert the Deflecto Craft Stackable Cube 4 Drawer Organizer and all this clutter is organized in a jiffy. I really love the clear cubes as they blend in to the background and let the contents be seen and easily accessed. I need to have everything within reach and these drawers are so handy.

I divided up my cups of pens and supplies into the 4 drawers... and I have room for plenty more! I wrapped a purple decorative tape around the edge of the storage cube and topped it off with some of the matching black bling leftover from the frame. This ties all three items together with pops of black.

Some See a Weed... Some See a WISH for Anything But a Card Challenges No. 38

For this challenge I created another page in my "quote" art journal featuring the quote "some see a weed, some see a wish". The newspaper blossom I came across in an envelopes of flowers received from a swap group I'm in {we swap papers, die cut shapes, buttons, ribbon and handmade flowers}. This was one of the gorgeous paper blossoms which looked like a dandelion to me - making it was a perfect match for my quote... and the perfect dimensional center for a giant bloom.

One of my fellow team-mates from the Amazing Crafting Products Creative Team practices the art of Zentangle and I'm always marking interesting tangles to try. I snapped a screen capture of this trumpet shape that peeked my interest {my apologies I'm trying to find the source to link back with official name}. I mounted the flower on a page with some overspray picked up in efforts of artsy cleanup and setoff repeating the pattern around and around with a Pigma Micron pen. I started out following the steps, but as I got going, I filled in and made adjustments as needed to keep it looking symmetrical {though it's anything but}. I'm a measuring, perfect-balance kind of gal and I found this process suprisingly FREE-ing.

I finished off with a couple of green paper leaves inked black with my dye ink pad {quick and easy} and filled in around them with some tangled embellishing. It's not perfect, in black and white and totally whimsical. I love it!
