#Cre8time is Merry and Bright...

Hello friends! With just days until Christmas... this elf is in a frenzy making handmade gifts. I have most everything completed and shipped, but I have saved the special gifts for last. They are the best and several will get a finishing touch with Etchall® Etching Créme!

Today I'm sharing a quick and easy transformation of ceramic ready made ornaments from the craft store... you know the ones -- they cost about $1 and are ready for paint, collage or ETCHING!!

Etchall® is a REUSABLE, easy to use etching créme that creates permanent etched designs on large or small areas of glass, mirror, ceramic, porcelain, marble and slate. No curing, drying required... it just takes 15 minutes! CLICK HERE to read more about this fantastic product. I will also be using Etchall® Resist Gel which makes hand drawn detailing quick and easy.

I will also be using Etchall® Resist Gel which has a pointed applicator tip, but I am working small so I want to have more control over the detail, and the Etchall® Designer Tip Kit will help. I have done freehand designs using Etchall® Etching Créme, and I'm excited to put my penmanship to work in a whole new dimension.

The Etchall® Designer Tip Kit includes: three tips (small, medium, large) and two empty 1 oz bottles with caps and locks AND can be used with Etchall® Etching Créme and Etchall® Resist Gel.

The Etchall® Resist Gel is an opaque pale blue in color which when dry and ready to etch goes clear.

There's very little prep work for embellishing these blank ornaments. Just remove from packaging, remove hanger, and clean surface with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth. This plain round ornament ready to be transformed into a priceless keepsake.

This ornament will be a very special commemorative gift. My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last month {seriously... twenty-five YEARS}. This is truly a milestone! Not too many folks my age are even married, and if they are... newly married {some divorced}. Twenty five years hasn't always been bright and shiny, some of it was gritty and hard, but we are still together and stronger for all life's ups and downs. This ornament is going to represent this momentous occasion and it must be handmade.

Supplies needed:

I masked off the edges with some blue painter's tape so I can grip the ornament while I work. I select a couple chipboard numbers from my crafty stash to plan out my design, then trace around the numbers with a wet-erase chalk pen. This pen writes on glass and is easily removed with a wet cloth. I also write years in my own handwriting to give a personal touch. Now I'm ready to apply the Etchall® Resist Gel.

Using a craft stick, I transfer some of the Etchall® Resist Gel to the smaller bottle from the Etchall® Designer Tip Kit, and select a precision applicator tip.

Twist to remove the locking lid to the bottle, then twist on one of the nibs. I selected the thinnest and gently squeeze to get the resist gel flowing and draw a little to test the flow. I trace over my design applied with the chalk ink pen. I am going for an aged, distressed look and feel, so I am throwing caution to the wind...

I outlined the numbers and it's thicker in some areas than others. I set this aside to dry.

Depending on thickness of application the Etchall® Resist Gel dried in about 20 minutes to half-hour.

While that one is drying, I'm going to have fun with freehand drawing designs on the other ornaments. This is as fun as decorating sugar cookies!

When Etchall® Resist Gel design is dried, I scoop out a bit of the Etchall® Etching Créme and gently spread over the hand-drawn design.

I placed a cotton swab into the hole of the ornament so I could rotate the ornament without touching it and also to keep the etching creme from oozing down onto the backside. A WIN -- WIN!

I evenly spread the Etchall® Etching Créme just to the edge of the ornament, leaving the sides as is. I set aside for about 20 minutes while I keep drawing with Etchall® Resist Gel on my other ornies.

TIMES UP!!! I gently remove the some of Etchall® Etching Créme and place back into the container.

Because the etching creme is wet, it made it really easy to also rub away the resist gel. I noticed part of the 5 had peeled back so I quickly removed as much creme as possible to reuse, then rinsed the rest away before it could etch into the masked areas.

Under running water, I gently rubbed away the remaining Etchall® Etching Créme with water. The resist gel design came off pretty easy in the process.

I pulled away all the dried resist gel and gave the ornament a final rinse. I set on a towel and patted dry. At first I couldn't see the etched design. I didn't realize that etched ceramic takes a lot longer to dry than etched glass. Ceramic is porous so it takes longer for the moisture to evaporate. I kept myself occupied drawing on the other ornies while I waited and after about 15 minutes... the magic could be seen!!!

When the ceramic is completely dry, I rub some Silver Leaf Rub 'n Buff® to the surface which only sticks to the etched surface. Using a paper towel, I rub away the excess to reveal the hand drawn design. I love the patina the rub n' Buff gives on the matte etched area. The un-etched edge of the ornament remains the original glazed ceramic finish.

I add two pieces of ribbon to make a hanger and this special ornament is ready to give to my husband for Christmas! I love how the design looks tattered and worn... like an old antique glass ornament. If I wanted it supremely perfect, I could have simply broke out my Cricut Expression and cut vinyl -- but for this gift from the heart only a HANDMADE touch would do. Merry Etchmas!!!

Etch the halls with Etchall's December Special!

Thanks for dropping by! I'll be back shortly to share another gift that I've topped off with Etchall®. xo Sb

#Cre8time Celebrating with Deflecto Craft and Designer Crafts Connection

Hello everyone! Summer is in full swing and anything could be a reason to celebrate! Do you have a party to plan? Today you are in for a treat as the Designer Crafts Connection takes on a new challenge featuring fabulous party decor items from Deflecto Craft. Let's get this celebration started...

For this challenge, Deflecto Craft provided three items for us to work with: the fabulous dual use Three Tier Dessert Stand; a 5" x 7" Beveled Edge Frame; and the VersaGrip™ Wide Clip Sign Holders. With these products you can set up your party table at a moments notice and easily customize them to coordinate with any theme or event.

My inspiration is summertime in Florida. One minute you can be planning a day at the beach and the next minute... the tropical downpours move in and you are stuck indoors for the afternoon {or days depending on Mother Nature}. So I'm having a summer beach bash movie party with all the snacks and treats. The first thing I did after a run to the store was embellish the 5" x 7" Beveled Edge Frame. This sleek beveled frame has metal knobs that unscrew easily for quick and easy framing.

I took one of my decorative napkins, opened it up fully and placed inside the frame, then trimmed edges flush with frame edges. I layered inside a fun phrase that I printed off the computer in coordinating colors. Using one of the bamboo skewers, I poked through the corner holes to insert and secure the screwposts. Easy-peasy!

Now for the fun!!! With a few pantry items, jumbo marshmallows and Wilton candy melts and accents, I have everything needed to make some tasty treats on bamboo skewers.

In my inspiration for these treats on a stick from Pinterest, the marshmallows were colored blue. The coloring step can be skipped and depending on season you may find blue ones at the store {mine had a nice assortment including Ghostbusters shapes}. I couldn't resist the jumbo sized which are about the size of 4 or six regular large marshmallows, making for super-sized tasty fun!

I skewered several marshmallows and dipped them in a pool of blue with a smidge of green food coloring. You may want to do these ahead of time as you have to dip them several times to get the colored desired. You can't leave them wet too long because they start to dissolve {I did 3-4 dips on each with 5-10 minutes between swims}. After setting out to dry for a while the marshmallows dried out. I melted some white chocolate candy melts then dipped each blue mallow into the chocolate and dunked them in toasted coconut.

The finishing touch is to add the Wilton "Finding Dory" candy fish and goldfish crackers with a dab of chocolate on the back to act as glue. I set aside to let chocolate harden before adding bamboo skewers. These are so cute!!

Now with my pops ready... my table is ready to be set. I gathered some beachy items from around the house along with some fun beach toys that I picked up for my nephews. I covered the three tiers of the Dessert Stand in a layer of plastic wrap for easy clean up and used a craft knife to cut slits through plastic wrap at points for assembling the layers. I layered fun snack items and candy on the tiers, then added the marshmallow pops in the holes perfectly spaced for staggering tasty treats. The VersaGrip™ Wide Clip Sign Holders come in handy for standing up or attaching signs or items to plates or vessels. I'm using them to hold up the cute sea life beach toys. This summer movie beach bash is ready...

with a Snackers Paradise!

I'm having an AMAZING #Cre8time Moldmaking and Casting... Day three of the "See You at CHA Blog Hop"

Welcome to day three of the "See You at CHA!" Bloghop. This upcoming CHA Mega Show will be it's 75th year celebrating creativity. Yes this is a party and there are plenty of chances for you to win the AMAZING bloghop prize. To get back to the top of the hop and catch up on day's one and two CLICK HERE to jump over to the Craft and Hobby Association's Blog.

CHA has been an event that I have attended as a retailer {when I was an instructor at my local scrapbooking store}, and now I attend as a CHA Designer Member with my business SMBdesign, and also as a working artist demonstrating at the big event. This upcoming CHA Mega Show will be my 5th year attending. I travel cross-country from Florida, the land of Disney World to attend this event that happens just steps away from Disneyland. Can you believe I haven't been to Disneyland yet?? My first time attending, my sister and I drove down to Huntington Beach for dinner and put our feet in the sand {it was way too cold that year to put our feet in the water}.

You can find me demonstrating at the Amazing Casting Products/Alumilite Corp. Booth #2400... come and try out Amazing Mold Putty and see the other products in action.

For the celebration I'm sharing this mini pumpkin project using Amazing Mold Rubber, Amazing Remelt, and Amazing Casting Resin

I love creating molds in Amazing Mold Rubber and I decided to make molds of three different mini pumpkins {please CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. This project shows how I made a mold of the smallest of my teeny weeny pumpkins – it's not a pretty mold on the outside and I had to do a little extra work to make this mold usable.

Amazing Mold Rubber is a liquid silicone which is fast curing and captures every little detail. I figured since it was starting to thicken up really FAST {it's still super humid summer time here in South Florida}, my pumpkin would stay submerged... NOT!! Before putting the pumpkin in the mold rubber, I dipped the top with the stem into the liquid silicone and let all the airbubbles dissipate before fulling submerging into container. So I had to sit there and keep pushing it back down and dragging the liquid silicone over the top.

**A TIP** Don't use a SILICONE spatula in liquid silicone – use a plastic knife or spoon. If you don't clean it off immediately, the liquid silicone fuses to it. My nice purple spatula now has a pink tip.

In preparation, I had a couple sections of old cut up molds submerged to keep the pumpkin from settling all the way to the bottom {you can see the yellow peeking through the mold}. I planned setting it upside down so the stem would be at the top of the mold and I would cut a nice size "X" at the top to gently free the pumpkin from the mold. Since the cured mold is all bumpy at the top, I need to backfill to make it level. I could do this with another pour of Amazing Mold Rubber... but since I had a mold fail on a previous pour, I'm fresh out of my pink magical goop and my local store was out - yikes! So I can fix this in a jiffy with Amazing Remelt, so I can use my mold right away - and I can go back with another layer of mold rubber later for a permanent fix.

I melt down some Amazing Remelt in the microwave and pour on top of Amazing Mold Rubber, filling the bowl to the top. I set this in the refrigerator for a bit to cool off and solidify quickly. I was busy messing about with other molds I was casting so I wasn't paying much attention to how long I left it in the fridge {sorry}.

So now my mold is level and the Amazing Remelt formed exactly to the shape of the Amazing Mold Rubber mold... and it doesn't stick to it permanently. When I'm done casting resin, this can be cut up, remelted and reused for something else!

I attached a mini binder clip to one of the sections of the "X" cut at top of mold, prepared a small batch of Amazing Casting Resin and then poured into the mold. I set aside to cure for about 20 minutes. I let cool a bit and removed first casting from the mold. The detail is so AMAZING!!! But I have a couple large air bubbles that were trapped in the mold – I forgot to poke around inside with a toothpick before the resin solidified. No worries... this baby won't go to waste! I filled the holes with some air dry clay and sanded back the edges – all fixed.

The paint I wanted to use wasn't a bit too fluid for this purpose, so I gave the entire resin pumpkin a coat of clear gesso – an easy fix! Once dry I rubbed on some Ranger Distress Paint in Cracked Pistachio {a lovely teal green}... I'm in LOVE!!

When dry, I mixed another small batch of Amazing Casting Resin colored with some Cotton Candy Alumidust. I poured some off into molds and saved the rest for topping my pumpkin. This is what I did... I waited for the resin to start to get thick and I dipped the pumpkin into it a couple times right as it was about to solidify. As it started to turn opaque, I turned it upright and sprinkled a rainbow mix of seed beads to serve as sprinkles {I mixed these myself from my 30 separate colors of seed beads}. This is so adorable... but it needs a little something, right?! I wanted to add a little more.

I waited for resin to fully cure and gently rubbed off the seed beads. They came off pretty easy. I mixed up another batch of Amazing Casting Resin with the Cotton Candy Alumidust and dipped again. Now the stem was completely covered. I used a mini file to make little hole in the top of the pumpkin to accept a piece of wire and wire-wrapped a stem to hold a candle and attached a glass leaf bead. Perfect!

This pumpkin is ready just in time for the See You at CHA Celebration! What item have you been dreaming to mold to use for your creative projects?

Join us for a #Cre8time CELBRATION with Anything But a Card Challenges No. 50

Today begins a brand new and final challenge at Anything But a Card Challenges... Challenge No. 50. And we are having a Cre8time "CELEBRATION" won't you join us! Since we are having a party... how about some cake? A pretty pink paper cake.

The FINAL Challenge... in the spirit of our time together stretching and growing our creative muscles – we invite you to join us in a Cre8time CELEBRATION!

I am about greencrafting and this paper cake is no exception. I know it's Pink... it happened to be the ruling color by my paper scraps and recycled colored tissue paper... and a wink to my super creative teamie "Sheri" {a.k.a. super pink girl}. This is one occasion that I can live without all things "PURPLE".

The center of this cake is recycled ribbon spools collaged with paper and tissue, then stamped with inky goodness and topped with luscious ribbon trims for the icing. Helmar adhesives made this project quick and easy... my cake came together lickety-split.

The base of the cake is finished off with
a hand-stamped doily detail, too!

This party is underway... now I'm off to find some ice cream. I hope you join us in the CELEBRATION at Anything But a Card Challenges!!!  :) Sb
