#Cre8time Organization for the Office... with Designer Crafts Connection and Deflecto Craft

 

Hello everyone! Today is another Designer Crafts Connection Bloghop challenge... this time featuring office supplies from Deflecto Craft. Who doesn't love office supplies - especially when we put our own Cre8time twist on them. As a graphic artist working in the printing industry, these items have transformed my disorganized mess on my desk.

For this challenge, Deflecto Craft provided three items for us to work with: Stackable Cube 4 Drawer Organizer; the 5" x 7" Black Bordered Craft Frame; and the Interior Image® 8 1/2" x 2" Sign Holder Nameplate. Each of these products on their own are sleek and functional, but combined, your desk and work area can be totally transformed.

The first thing I set off to embellish was the Interior Image® 8 1/2" x 2" Sign Holder Nameplate. I used some silver letter stickers from my stash to spell out "dream BIG" along the black swoosh bar. I enlarged my logo and text from my business cards to fit the plexiglas area. This can be changed out easily at any time by sliding out the protective anti-glare plexiglas and replace with a new insert.

Now I move on to putting a little bling onto the 5" x 7" Black Bordered Craft Frame. These frames are great as they are for a sleek, modern look... but are a perfect blank canvas for a myriad of projects or handmade gifts.

I had a lanyard from a convention with black square gems that was coming apart, so I gently peeled the gems off of the felt backing and re-adhered as an accent to the black edge of the acrylic frame. I had one small section of gems remaining and I saved this to embellish the storage drawer cube. I typeset a favorite quote by Arisotle and printed out. I trimmed page to fit frame and I have an instant piece of "Quotable Art" that looks like something storebought.

I don't know about you, but my desk seems to end up with a bunch of cups holding a hodge podge of pencils, pens, markers and whatnot... causing more clutter than actual organization. Insert the Deflecto Craft Stackable Cube 4 Drawer Organizer and all this clutter is organized in a jiffy. I really love the clear cubes as they blend in to the background and let the contents be seen and easily accessed. I need to have everything within reach and these drawers are so handy.

I divided up my cups of pens and supplies into the 4 drawers... and I have room for plenty more! I wrapped a purple decorative tape around the edge of the storage cube and topped it off with some of the matching black bling leftover from the frame. This ties all three items together with pops of black.

#Cre8time Organization that's to DIE for...

Hello Everyone! It's a new week and I'm focusing on getting my crafty stash organized... today I'm focusing on my fun collection of thin metal dies. I am a die-hard club member of The Stamps of Life and I get a fun new collection of stamps with dies each month. Until now I have them all in a box in the mail packaging they come in - but I can't see them and have no clue what is in each. I have a solution combining two products from Deflecto Craft and a few staples from my crafty stash.

I'm using two Deflecto Craft products to create this FUNctional tabletop die storage... and it's a quick and easy transformation.

The sleek and modern Deflecto Document Browser® has six clear dividers on a black base which move effortlessly to browse files. I knew straightaway that this would be a great way to store my ever-growing collection of thin metal dies. I need them to be out where I can see them and organized in a fun way. This document browser system is perfect for this... the best part is that I can use both sides of each divider as my collection grows.

The Deflecto Craft Magnetic Sheets come in a package of three 8" x 15" sheets, with a white backing. These white magnetic sheets can be painted or papered, embellished or customized to any project. Thin enough to cuts easily with scissors, craft knives and die cuts... even emboss. I will be using the magnetic side {black side} up for sticking items to the storage system.

First I use a sheet of deli paper to trace a cutting pattern to fit each panel. I measure and cut six sections to size and trace pattern with pencil on the white side of magnet sheets. Now for a little fun! I could have skipped this step - but I wanted add a little texture and flair to my storage... and I think this will aid in pulling off the dies. So I picked an embossing folder with a gradiant dot pattern and embossed each magnetic section with my Cuttlebug. Honestly, I grabbed the first folder that was within reach {I have about 200} and didn't want to fuss with trying to choose.

I had to run each sheet through twice to complete pattern all the way across. I repeated for all five sheets.

I made sure that embossing would be raised on the black magnetic side. Now it's just so fun, right??!

Now for the most technical part of the transformation - cutting and gluing. I went to my stash and grabbed some double sided adhesive sheets for this job. Makes things quick and easy. I cut to size of rectangles and adhered to white side of each panel. The adhesive sheets are translucent enough to see my pattern line. I cut each to shape and did a test fit to make any trim adjustments if needed. I peeled off the backing and mounted to the Document Browser®. Voila!!

I have all six panels nearly filled and room to grow on the backside!

#Cre8time Dormroom Doodling... Heading Off to College with Deflecto Craft

Hello Everyone! Today I'm bringing you some "Back to School" inspiration using some supplies with Deflecto Craft. My project is geared for the college student who's moving into the dorms and setting up for classes and studying in style!

My project is super fun and easy... and perfect for the college student - combining sweet treats and brand new school supplies in a caddy that is hand-doodled with Deflecto Dry Erase Chalk Markers. These pens can turn virtually any surface into a place to leave a Cre8time impression! A college student could go wild in the blank canvas called a DORM ROOM.

I customized the outside and around the framed inside of the pencil cup creating a whimsical circular pattern. Who doesn't love to doodle? The chalk ink can be wiped away with a damp cloth and it's ready for new design.

In lieu of photos, I added some fluorescent pink cardstock to the photo frame and wrote a fun message using the blue wet erase chalk marker onto the protective plexi window.

My LOVE of STAMPING meets #Cre8time Organization

Hello Everyone! Today is the first monday of February {as well as Groundhog's Day here in the U.S.} which brings another Designer Crafts Connection Bloghop! Our creatives are sharing projects of "LOVE This..." which is anything having to do with creativity - tools, techniques, products, or craft genre!

I don't know about you, but for me January flew by in like a minute... and I'm trying to "SIMPLIFY" my life in 2015. I've combined my love of STAMPING and MIXED-MEDIA to create a creative calendar, by mounting an original stamped collage into an acrylic craft frame that I can change for each month with some fun wet-erase markers.

In my effort to reorganize my life and Cre8time, my stash of Deflecto Craft Solutions are making my studio, sleek and streamlined... but also modern and completely "ME".

This project is featuring the Deflecto Hanging 8 1/2" x 11" Craft Frame #68201CR – which I measured out a blank calendar grid marked out with thin washi tapes... quick and easy!

Starting with a blank sheet of white letter size uncoated cardstock, I used clear embossing fluid to stamp images onto sheet; then applying embossing powder and heat embossing to create an emboss resist. I worked in sections at a time, stamping, applying powder then heating to build up a scene. This is one of my favorite stamping techniques and is totally worth the time invested to build a background.

Now for the MAGIC! I colored over the top with Faber-Castell Gelatos and blended out with my finger. In doing this, some of the stamped images blend into the background becoming more muted adding depth and interest. Much of the stamped imagery gets covered up, so to expose the resist areas I gently rub the surface with a papertowel to remove the color away from the embossed areas... and the embossed white areas reappear! Love... love... LOVE!!! I repeated adding layers color and rubbing away until coloring was to my liking. 

I have an instant mixed media painting... with stamps! I have so many stamped images here to create my "mind's eye" scene... too many to count, so I have listed all below in supplies list. 

With my collage complete - I gently slide it into the frame and prepare for hanging. Super easy and protected from the elements... a total INSPIRATION piece!

I used my labelmaker to make some days of the week title stickers for the top of my calendar grid, then topped off the frame with sari ribbon and hemp twine for hanging. My calendar can be changed easily each month with wet erase markers.

When #Cre8time and Greencrafting meet Deflecto Storage Solutions

Greetings Friends! It's the last Monday of September and time for another Deflecto USA Ambassador Design Team Challenge. I'm having such a fabulous time on this team and having the opportunity to get creatively organized and find a home for my crafty stash!

Today the entire Deflecto USA Ambassador Design Team is sharing a variety of creative and imaginative uses for a variety of Deflecto Storage Solutions - and today I'm focusing on this what we call "LAZY SUSAN" LOL! Carousel Rotating Organizer Item Number: 39010104. This carosel has three 6" tall and six 3" tall wedge shaped canisters with snap tight lids that nestle in a rotating base {aka LAZY SUSAN}. This also comes in a six 6" canister configuration. This is great for storing small craft supplies and with a few of my own crafty modifications... I've got it just right!

I have been keeping my eyes on a variety of desktop stackable tray spinners and have never really jumped for one because they don't really fit my workspace or work/organizational style. I don't want everything out and withing sight or reach... but I DO want everything to have a proper home. 

I'm using this Carousel Rotating Organizer to store my hoards of baggies and envelopes of ribbons and trims that are loose offcuts.

This will put a nice dent in this mess that has grown into a large box of ribbons and fibers and who know's what... it's making my head spin. I have a drawer dedicated to ribbon on spools all organized, but this box is the stuff I access all the time. It is taking up way too much precious table space!

I've modified my Carousel Rotating Organizer to have a top catch tray through some crafty recycling of a heavy duty cardboard tube, some bottle caps and a recycled serving tray leftover from a vegetable platter at the deli. All I need is a little black ink, some Amazing Casting Resin and E6000® adhesive.

I rummaged around my stash to locate a cardboard tube from some decorative paper and cut a section to size. This is a really sturdy cardboard similar to a packing tape spool. I just needed to rummage through my recycling bin for some caps to close off and strengthen the ends so that I can raise and mount the tray to the spinner.

I quickly stained the tube black to match the spinner using a makeup sponge and Jacquard Mantilla Black Pinata Ink.

I have some storebought plastic ribbon/thread cards and I'm forever running out of these. So I looked through my drawer of punches and found a nice tab shape that will work perfectly for DIY thread cards... and it's FREE!

While waiting a few for my inked tube to dry - I punched a whole stack of cardstock ribbon cards. If I need more... the punch is within arms reach. No more hunting at the store for them. YAY!

I have wound up a lot of ribbons on these - making a nice dent in my ribbon box mess. It might take me a few more evenings to get the entire box sorted and wrapped on cards. I have a huge pile ready to go which I separated by color into the 9 bins on the carousel.

I need to give my tube some endcaps so I can mount the recycled vegetable tray to the carousel. I did this by mixing up two small batches of Amazing Casting Resin {one at a time for each end} and partially filling the cap, then submerging the end of the tube into the liquid resin. I held it in place for a few minutes keeping it level until the resin cured {Amazing Casting Resin sets up in about 5 minutes and cures to an opaque white}. I might go back and drill a hole to in the carousel to properly screw it in place to make it more secure - but this seems to be working nicely for now.

With the tube in place, I'll have about a 2" gap from the top of the canisters to the floating recycled vegetable tray - giving me easy access to my ribbon.

Now with my tube capped, I am ready to glue it in place with some E6000®. I put the black end up because it's prettier that way and glued it to the center of the dish.

I kept an eye on this for a bit until the glue tacked up to make sure it stayed level and in the center. This is going to be so great!

After drying for a couple hours the suspense was killing me - so I flipped it over and gently dropped it into place in the center of the canisters... a perfect fit!

TADA!!!

With the addition of the tray to the top... I am doubling my use and maximizing the vertical space! All those little bits of this and that on my table have a home and my hubs will finally stop asking me to get rid of that vegetable tray in the cabinet. CLICK HERE to jump over to the Deflecto Craft Facebook Page to see more of the teams creations.
